Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Specific duties include:
•Oversee three core interdependent practice areas (infrastructure & server architecture, production and website delivery, planning and software development) and serve as the subject matter expert and leader for each.
•Serve as the head of the technology department to help grow the team and the infrastructure.
•Manage and motivate existing technology team of three and help identify future staffing needs as necessary.
•Participate in high-level management meetings to collaborate on business strategy and technology direction.
•Interface with creative and account teams to continue to improve existing workflows and processes.
•Maintain big-picture vision of existing production work, manage backlog of work and help scope future project to ensure optimal project delivery and client satisfaction.
•Keep an eye on emerging technology standards and trends with the goal of leveraging them to improve our application framework and development offerings.
•Review all technical language in outgoing contracts and proposals to ensure client expectations will be met and legal requirements will be met.
•Work with Fortune 500 project stakeholders to help them successfully navigate their rigorous company security audit procedures and documentation requirements.
•Understand integration techniques for disparate systems and platforms through APIs.
•Attend sales pitches as the technology subject matter expert to answer any comments, questions or concerns.
Skills include:
•Expert understanding of LAMP development stack and multi-tier server deployment architectures.
•Understanding of source code versioning systems such as SVN, CVS, and Git.
•Strong database architecture experience and understanding of SQL optimization techniques.
•Strong HTML and CSS skills.
•Strong knowledge of AJAX, YUI, jQuery and other Javascript for rich Web 2.0 interfaces.
•Strong background in PHP application development environment.
•Experience working with frameworks such as Zend, Code Igniter or Kohana.
•Understanding of CMS best practices (experience with Expression Engine is critical).
•Understanding of security requirements such as PCI DSS, COPPA and HIPAA.
•Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and be able to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
Additional requirements include:
•Bachelor's degree required with at least seven years of professional experience
•Experience using both PC and Mac computer platforms (Mac preferred)
•Familiarity with project workflow management and task management through web-based systems (e.g., Quickbase, Basecamp, Mantis, Jira, Workamajig, etc)
•Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, namely Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Ability to handle multiple tasks and be able to prioritize appropriately and delegate when necessary
•Can work with frequent tight deadlines and demanding clients
•Strong desire to learn and grow in a challenging and dynamic technical environment
•Knowledge of existing public affairs and public relations technology and systems.
•Interest in politics and current affairs a plus with a drive to understand how the Internet plays a role in politics and advocacy
•Interest in working with a multitude of clients ranging from large corporations to trade associations to smaller non-profits
•Must be a motivated self-starter
•Must enjoy working as part of a diverse team that likes to have fun but is driven to meet client deadlines and exceed expectations
