My client is a leading magazine conglomerate quickly moving into the digital space – they publish 18 consumer magazines, four business-to-business publications, 27 websites, and more than 40 apps for mobile and tablet devices, all of which define excellence in their categories.

We are looking for experienced developers who are ready to build the next generation mobile applications on cutting edge platforms. The position will focus on the Android mobile platform, and have the added benefit of working with a team experienced in all major and emerging mobile platforms.

Requirements:

• Thorough knowledge of using Eclipse IDE and Android SDK
• Experience building Android apps from scratch utilizing standard SDK techniques
• Experience creating custom UI elements, creating a right interactive UX on Android

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
6+ years of software development experience
3+ years Java experience (preferably client side)
1+ years SQL experience
In-depth knowledge of OOP concepts and techniques
Experience with HTTP, XML, JSON, and HTML and web services via REST
Used, SVN, Git or Mercurial for version control.

Additional Bonus Skills:
Apps developed for iOS or other mobile platform
Server side web development
HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery experience (mobile a plus)
Advanced JavaScript knowledge
