Freelance JEE Developer

Sr. Developers are expected to work independently and deliver high quality JEE code in a timely manner across a variety of project engagements. Sr. Developers are expected to participate in multiple phases of projects, including requirements gathering, software design, development and testing. Sr. Developers must be proficient with JEE and object-oriented programming, including software design and design patterns. Experience working with standard application servers such as BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere is expected. Experience working with package solutions such as BEA WebLogic Portal or Interwoven is a plus.
Candidates must be proficient with standard JAVA development tools, including ANT, Maven, log4J, JUnit, and popular IDE’s such as Eclipse. Proficiency with open source frameworks such as Struts, Tiles, Axis, Spring and Hibernate is desired. Candidates must have IT consulting experience and be familiar with a team approach to execution. Candidates must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and be willing to travel.
Responsibilities
Deliver high quality JEE code and documentation in a timely manner with little supervision
Accurately report issues and status to project management
Participate in technical requirements gathering, design, and testing
Assist/Mentor junior developers
Required Experience/Skills
Candidates should have completed at least 3 full professional software engineering projects across multiple platforms and have acquired the following skills:
Core JAVA (JDK 1.5+)
Expert in Object-oriented programming concepts
Proficiency with software design fundamentals and design patterns
Proficiency with web languages, including HTML and JavaScript
Experience working with open source Frameworks (Spring/Struts/Hibernate/etc…)
Experience with Enterprise Application Servers (BEA WebLogic or IBM WebSphere)
Relational database fundamentals (i.e. Oracle, Sybase, etc.)
Nice to Have
Alternate scripting languages such as Perl, PHP
Experience writing complex RDBMS queries and procedures
Experience with a major portal package, such as BEA WLP or IBM WebSphere Portal
Experience with profiling, tuning, and optimizing JEE web applications
Experience with a major content management package, such as Interwoven, etc
