full time PHP Developer- Server Side Open Source Enterprise Apps

at Achieve-It, LLC in McLean, VA

One hundred percent dedicated to cyber security, we have a proven track record operating in our nation’s most challenging cyber environments. On behalf of our clients in the Intelligence, Defense, Civilian, and Private Sector communities, we rise to face all challenges with the design, development, and integration of solutions that unlock adversarial secrets and deliver compelling capabilities to our partners.

Our client is seeking a PHP developer to join a rapidly growing project to automate the FISMA C&A IT Security process. We are writing the first, major open source application for the U.S. federal government, and we need brilliant, hard-working developers to help us meet the rising demand.

Candidates are expected to have a strong background in web programming in all areas, including server-side scripting (PHP is a huge plus), javascript, and CSS.

The ideal candidate can code in their sleep, has moved beyond learning how to program, and moved on to learning how to construct software. If you can't confidently explain the difference between HTML and XHTML off the top of your head -- and then explain which one is better and why -- then this is not the job for you.

The ideal candidate will be outgoing and self-motivated, a genuine computer geek who enjoys constructing software and is constantly growing his/her skills in the trade. He/She reads technology blogs, has programming books on the shelves, and can offer a strong opinion on weak-typing versus strong-typing.

The ideal candidate also has a strong linux and/or unix background. He/She has configured apache web servers, iptables firewalls, php.ini's, and several other products I haven't even heard of yet. This candidate will bring new expertise to the group and expand the knowledge of everyone they work with.
