Senior Software Engineer – Java/SOA/REST/Agile HomeAway is seeking a talented Java developer to join our API development team.
Candidates will have 5+ years of experience building web applications in Java, will have experience in an SOA environment, and will be well-versed in the REST architectural pattern. This is an incredible opportunity to join an exciting organization, and to partcipate directly on a team building a best-of-breed platform for providing an enterprise-wide REST API on top
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the architecture and design of the REST API framework
- Own and develop new features to the REST API framework
- Provide guidance, oversight, and SLA governance for multiple teams building service endpoints
- Support and evangelize the platform to the application development teams
- Troubleshoot and solve the challenging problems inherent in a large distributed architecture – synchronization, data integrity, latency, response times and throughput management
Candidate Profile:
- Extensive experience in commercial, production-strength internet development
- Expert knowledge and experience with Java/J2EE object oriented development, with a solid grasp of Java 5+ technologies including Annotations, Generics, Concurrency
- Solid Spring Framework experience and appreciation for Inversion-of-Control frameworks
- Extensive experience working with and optimizing interactions with relational databases
- Appreciate design-by-convention and don’t-repeat-yourself paradigms.
- Source control and configuration management (we use Git)
- Experience in Agile team methodology
- Rabid advocate of test-driven development
- Experience in building software frameworks
- Service-oriented architectural experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
