REQUIREMENTS (senior programmer)

Education & Training
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Management or related area: or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Experience
5 – 7 years or equivalent working knowledge and skill as developer/programmer, database programmer, web developer with at least 4 years in an agency/marketing capacity.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in sales and marketing environments
• Proven ability to collect and organize development requirements and specifications
• Thorough understanding of SEO and UI best practices
• Proficiency in robust relational database design and optimization
• Diverse development language skill sets with the ability to learn new methodologies independently

Required Qualifications
• Be self-motivated with a positive attitude in both independent and collaborative, diverse team environments
• Ability to effectively communicate with programming and Account Service teams
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated decision-making, analytical and problem solving skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and adjust accordingly
• Ability to travel (approx. 10%)

Technical Knowledge
• Experience using software applications such as Microsoft Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
• Strong, proficient use of the following:
o SQL/ASP
o Oracle/JSP
o XML
o VB
o HTML/DHTML
o .NET and Visual Studio
o JavaScript

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Technical Leadership – Responsible for leading technical discovery, definition and system design with assigned client teams. Work closely with Account Service to in-take and translate client/business/project requirements into technical documentation used throughout project life-cycle, including test plan development.

2. Onboarding – Participate in Project Kick-off meetings with project team, assisting Project Manager and Account Manager with assignment of project action items, review of project scope and technical requirements. Assist in identifying outages in content or project deliverables. Identify need for Production support from contract services with Project Manager.

3. Development – Lead project development, consulting with the Director of Production as needed, utilizing one or more of the following:

• SQL/ASP
• Oracle/JSP
• XML
• VB
• HTML/DHTML
• .NET and Visual Studio
• JavaScript

Develop against latest industry best-practices and methodologies for Web-based applications according to directives set forth by the Director of Production. Seeks opportunities for independent professional development and delivers learning/insights back to the Production team on a regular basis.

4. Version Control – Actively manages use of repository control systems from development to staging and live deployment to ensure accurate version control throughout project life-cycle.

5. User Experience – Collaborate with Sr. Art Director and Account Manager in the development of user process flows, site architectures, wire frames and user experience tests on assigned projects.

6. Test Plans – Draft, refine and deploy software test plans for all custom solutions, including STARAwards and iExtend.

7. Quality Control/Testing – Employ quality assurance methodologies to troubleshoot, debug and implement software code in accordance with requirements called for the project statement of work and operational mandates outlined in the technical requirements document.

8. Presentation of Work – Contribute to presentation of work product at assigned milestones to internal and external audiences as identified in the project schedule.

9. Changes in Scope – Identify change-to-scope or risk-to-scope issues and engage Account Manager and Project Manager for issue resolution.

10. Productivity – Self-manage budgeted hours per project and notify Project Manager when time-to-task will exceed allotted budget. Target billable rate is 65% – 80%.

11. Special Projects. As assigned.
