Job Description:
Server Side Application Developer writes, tests, and maintains programming applications for FIDM’s web properties that enable dynamic content, database interaction, third party solutions integration, and integration with solutions either created or administered by FIDM’s IT department. If solutions require extensive data cataloging and complex data interactions, Developer will also act as database administrator.
General Job Duties:
• Work with Web Marketing Technology Director to oversee, recommend and execute server side solutions that will enable greater efficiency for FIDM’s web sites and keep FIDM’s web efforts appropriately contemporary.
• Envision, scope and develop programming solutions that solve FIDM’s business objectives as dictated by Department’s internal clients.
• Work with Web Marketing Technology Director to assess need for Content Management Systems; create and/or oversee development of any CMS.
• If required, act as database administrator of any database required by CMS that may not already exist within FIDM or be accessible by Web Marketing Operations Department.
• Assist the IT Dept. in maintaining points of access to legacy databases via solutions such as SOAP or RPC.
• Liaise regularly with Application Developers inside FIDM’s IT department; oversee any application development done inside IT department on behalf of Web Marketing Operations as directed by Web Marketing Technology Director.
• Prepare Statements of Work, Technical and Functional Specifications, and any other necessary documents required to explain, give direction on, and solicit approval for technology projects.
Job Performance Expectations
• Write effective software solutions
• Recommend appropriate third party solutions
• Advance appropriate use of contemporary web technologies
• Build highly collaborative work relationship with FIDM IT department
Skills Position should have:
• 7+ years of server-side programming experience
• Working Knowledge of IBM WebSphere framework highly desireable
• Some database development and performance monitoring
• Fluency in PHP, MVC frameworks such as Zend or CodeIgniter, ORM, SQL, XHTML, XML, XSLT, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks (jQuery a plus), CSS, and Web Standards.
• Strong grasp of contemporary server-based solutions and knowledge of key players in the field
• Good communication and listening skills, both written and oral
• Passion for technology as a media and marketing enabler
• Diplomacy, maturity, strong team player
Working Hours:
• Monday through Friday 9:am - 6:00pm
