Key Tasks and Activities
Write Code in Java, and Java-based web technologies
Create or enhance web-based scientific software
Analyze requirements
Write unit tests
Write acceptance tests
Program in a team environment in pairs
Design software with object orientation

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
5 years relevant experience in commercial software development or scientific IT environment
3 years creating and deploying web-based internet/intranet applications
4 years degree in computer science, biology or chemistry
2 years experience in an agile development shop using Scrum, Xp or similar agile methodology
Scientific programming experience preferred (statistics, biology, chemistry, etc)

Test-Driven Development as a method to discover software design and ensure software quality
Refactoring, especially to design patterns

Technologies
2+ years Agile/XP project methodology experience (mandatory)
2+ years TDD (test-driven development) experience
2+ years web service implementation experience
5+ years Java development experience
Eclipse, Hibernate, Oracle SQL using JDBC
JBoss, Ant, Subversion, Hibernate, JAX-WS, SoapUI, and VersionOne a bonus
