Position Summary:
• Self-starter is your middle name; you can take or come up with a high level idea, and run with it
• You can project manage yourself if necessary, and be a mentor to others on your team
• You can survey what’s out there in the open source world, evaluate vendor products, or code it yourself
• A real understanding of databases and what it means to write software that is heavily database backed
• The ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people alike, to show both technical command and functional command of what you are doing
• You’re an owner, once something is assigned to you, it is not just a task, it is a mission, and the end goal is to deliver something great that wows our customers
• You only want to work on something that matters – what we’re doing will matter in a big way
• You are not afraid to crack open an existing code base and bend it to your will
• You like actually designing software, and thinking through how it fits into larger efforts before you dive in

Qualifications:
• Experience with online applications that are highly transactional, scalable and reliable
• Experience in an OO programming language like Java, C++, etc
• Experience with Ruby, PHP, Python, Groovy and other dynamic languages
• You know when it is better to use Java and JSP versus PHP and Perl
• Experience working on software that is backed by Oracle, MySQL or SqlServer
• Experience developing software on a UNIX platform
• You can play the role of Sys Admin or DBA when an expert isn’t around
• You are familiar with open source packages for getting work done, and would be comfortable surveying the landscape for any given assignment before you started coding

Education:
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline; or 4+ years demonstrated experience as a software developer in an object-oriented language; or equivalent combination of experience and education
