iContact is a six-year old venture-backed 170+ person company based in Durham, NC, that provides on-demand software that makes online communication easy. The iContact product is the leading email marketing and online communications platform used by over 50,000 companies worldwide ranging from small businesses to blue chip clients like International Paper, Ford, Bank of America, Super 8 Motel, Symantec, Re/Max, United Colors of Benetton, Nissan, and LG Electronics.
iContact was named one of the Best Places to Work in the Triangle by the Triangle Business Journal in 2007 and 2008. Positions will be headquartered in the Durham/Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina. We are willing and able to put together the right packages for the right candidates.
We use open source software, like Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Memcache, and Agile software development methods, like Scrum, user stories, short release cycles, test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration, to develop our highly usable, scalable, and reliable enterprise-level application.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
• Plan and execute improvements to our web application's software architecture, especially the system we use for billing our clients
• Define, design, and guide the engineering of new and existing features
• Work closely with your teammates to solve challenging problems
• Mentor less experienced software engineers
• Work with experts from other disciplines produce the best possible product
Skills
Skills include:
• 10+ years experience in an application programming role
• 4+ years experience in a lead or architect role
• Strong experience with object-oriented programming (OOP)
• Strong experience with web application programming, especially LAMP stack
• Strong experience with SQL, query optimization
• Experience in Agile (Scrum + XP) environments; serving as a catalyst and leader within self-directed teams
• Experience with automated testing and continuous integration environments including TDD / unit tests, Selenium, and other open source tooling
• Experience with billing systems (e.g. jBilling)
• Strong communication skills
• Ability and desire to work well in a team environment
• Creativity, motivation, and passion for building up those around you
• A forward-thinking, highly motivated, and ambitious personality
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field
• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship
