Quickoffice is looking to add a motivated Web Developer to its growing staff. Job responsibilities will include developing website user interface elements, expanding web application functionality, developing web services, and providing testing support for such development.
The ideal candidate would be able to operate effectively in a team atmosphere and with a fast-paced development schedule. The candidate filling this job role would be expected to work within a team composed of marketing specialists, product evangelists, customer support representatives, and other developers to increase revenue, improve the customer experience, and develop brand loyalty. As such, candidates who are creative thinkers, good listeners, excellent communicators, and well-rounded professionals are highly desirable. Additionally, the ideal candidate would have a passion for website and web application development to match a desire to constantly improve their abilities.
While a candidate should meet all requirements listed under “Required Skills and Experience”, the ideal candidate would also possess some of the abilities or experience listed under “Desirable Skills and Experience”.
The candidate must be available to interview at our Plano, TX office.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 2+ years experience in developing object-oriented PHP code for database-backed websites or web applications.
• Demonstrable understanding of web application security practices and experience in developing secure web applications.
• Experience with developing applications backended by MySQL 5.X databases.
• Intermediate-level experience in hand coding of javascript and familiarity with the use of the XMLHttpRequest class and the Document Object Model.
• Strong understanding of both traditional table-based (X)HTML layouts and CSS-driven layouts and when best to utilize each.
• Ability to write well-formed XHMTL mark-up both with and without development tools such as Dreamweaver.
• Intermediate knowledge of CSS with a good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues.
• Understanding of good code documentation practices and tools.
• Ability to quickly learn, understand, test, and debug an inherited codebase.
• Comfortable working in Linux server environment at the command line.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Experience in developing EJB 3.0 applications in JBoss 4.x app server. (Highly Desirable)
• Familiarity with Photoshop as used for web development (i.e. slicing PSD’s, image optimization, etc.).
• Graphic design skills.
• Common Linux administration skills such as configuring networking and firewall setup, possible shell scripting.
• Experience in configuring PHP and/or installing PEAR/PECL libraries.
• API development experience.
• Experience in configuring Apache 2 web servers.
• Experience in MySQL database administration and configuration.
• Experience in reporting from a MySQL database using common tools.
• Applicable certifications (PHP, MySQL, SCJP etc.).
• Expert-level javascript abilities including the ability to fully implement custom asynchronous calls, DOM element animation, etc.
• Expert-level CSS experience (i.e. ability to create CSS-based navigation elements, rollovers, etc.).
• Flash and/or Flash video development.
• Experience in developing websites or web applications for mobile devices.
• Experience working with revision control systems such as Subversion and Mercurial.
• Experience in writing unit tests (xUnit or similar).
• Experience in conducting automated testing of web applications using tools such as Selenium IDE.
