JAVA DEVELOPER / WEB DEVELOPER – CENTRAL LONDON (REF: JC-000EAF, Closing Date: 12/12/2010, Salary: £35,000 - £45,000)
We are looking for a passionate Java Developer to play a key role in the design and development of innovative web applications and next generation meta-search products for one of the UK’s leading travel price comparison websites.
Our client is a well-known media company, who, since launching in 2005 has grown at an average of 40% each year. Continuing their expansion they are now seeking to hire an experienced Java Developer to be responsible for delivering exciting new products, application design and contributing to architectural decisions.
You will be working in a challenging Agile environment where you will be given exposure to leading edge technologies and have the freedom to suggest new ways of delivering first class products.
To qualify for this position you must be a strong Java Developer (experience with Grails/Groovy would be a huge bonus) and you must also possess the following:
• A Computer Science degree (2.1 or higher).
• Familiarity with Spring/Hibernate.
• A love of data, strong SQL (ideally MySQL).
• Servlet containing experience- e.g. Tomcat, Jetty.
• Knowledge of XML technologies.
• Web Development experience –XHTML/GSP, AJAX, CSS, Javascript.
• Experience with Subversion (or other source control).
• Previous experience of working in an Agile environment.
• An understanding or scalable web applications (caching, clustering, grid computing, etc).
The following would be advantageous:
• Lucene/ Compass/ Soir experience.
• Linux scripting/ admin experience.
